State Rep. Bill Schuette | Michigan House Republicans
This December concludes the first term of Bill as State Representative for the 95th District, representing Midland and Gladwin Counties. Reflecting on his tenure, Bill expressed his eagerness to continue serving for another two years.
Bill noted that legislative service involves both offensive and defensive strategies. Over the past two years, he has focused significantly on defense against policies he deems harmful, such as energy policies and the repeal of Right to Work. He also highlighted issues with budget priorities.
Despite these challenges, Bill successfully secured funding for flood mitigation in Mid-Michigan. His office responded to over 4,700 calls, emails, and letters from residents of the 95th District. They assisted more than 300 constituents with state department issues and held 48 office hours in Midland and Gladwin Counties.
Looking ahead to 2025, Bill anticipates a transition with new leadership in the House of Representatives. "Under Democratic Leadership," he said, "the House of Representatives left the people of Michigan behind." He emphasized that new Republican leadership will focus on ten core priorities:
- Making Michigan more affordable
- Preparing all kids for future success
- Demanding accountable government
- Building safer communities
- Promoting affordable clean energy
- Attracting high-paying jobs
- Empowering communities
- Enhancing mental health care access
- Growing the economy
- Securing Michigan’s future
Bill expressed enthusiasm about being part of this new majority next year and is committed to advancing these priorities statewide and particularly in Mid-Michigan.
He concluded by wishing everyone a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.
