A resolution acknowledging President Donald J. Trump's policies and their impact on Michigan was adopted by the Michigan House. State Representative Brian BeGole of Antrim Township presented the resolution, highlighting the administration's efforts and their significance to the state.
"We appreciate how much of a focus Michigan has been for this administration," said BeGole on the House floor. He noted the announcement of a new fighter mission at Selfridge Air National Guard Base, describing it as a supportive move for thousands of jobs and a bolstering of national defense.
BeGole praised the administration for "bold moves to protect American manufacturing, cut wasteful spending, protect our border, stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities, build Line 5 and stop Asian carp," stating these are critical issues for Michigan.
Trump's first 100 days in office included a visit to Warren to introduce the new F-15EX Eagle II fighter mission at Selfridge Base. He committed to preventing Asian carp from entering the Great Lakes, endorsing the Brandon Road Interbasin Project—an effort crucial to Michigan's environmental and economical safety.
Additionally, an executive order declared a National Energy Emergency, facilitating the Enbridge Line 5 tunnel project's emergency permitting. This move aims to enhance Michigan's energy infrastructure and protect jobs.
Another presidential order aims to boost American mineral production, expediting the permitting process for a mine in Osceola County to reduce foreign potash dependency.
Brian BeGole is serving his second term in the 71st House District, covering parts of Shiawassee, Saginaw, and Genesee Counties.
The resolution was discussed in the state Capitol, where BeGole spoke in favor of House Resolution 76, which commends President Trump's leadership during his initial 100 days.
