FOIA Request to Saginaw County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Tri-City Sun have submitted a request under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq. This request is aimed at obtaining records about all candidates running in the upcoming election.
The requested information includes basic details such as the candidates' first, middle, and last names, as well as the office they are running for and its jurisdiction. We have also asked for the party affiliation of each candidate.
Furthermore, we have requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization, our role involves gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We will continue to keep you updated on this matter as more information becomes available.
