FOIA Request to Gratiot County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in local government, we at Tri-City Sun have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Gratiot County. The request was sent on September 26, 2024, seeking comprehensive details about all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024 till the date of the request.
The information requested includes the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount for each payment. This data is crucial for us as it allows us to analyze how public funds are being spent within the county.
As a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to such public records is essential. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.
We have also requested a fee waiver for this information under our status as a media professional. We believe that this exemption is warranted given our role in disseminating important information to the public.
We await a response from Gratiot County and will continue our efforts in promoting transparency and accountability in local government.
