Representative Bill G. Schuette recently visited a trio of area schools in Midland to celebrate March Is Reading Month and engage with students about the significance of reading. Schuette, a proud graduate of Midland Public Schools, emphasized the impact of reading on children's development and learning.
During his visit to various schools, including CHEMinistry Homeschool Co-op, Calvary Baptist Academy, and Woodcrest Elementary, Schuette expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to interact with students and staff. He highlighted the benefits of reading, stating, "Higher literacy rates lead to better results in the classroom and increase a student’s likelihood of graduating."
Schuette also shared his personal experience, mentioning, "I am glad I started reading early, which helped me grow into a lifelong reader." He further added, "March is a great month to recognize the many different ways reading helps children develop and learn."
As a representative of the 95th District in the Michigan House, which includes all of Midland County, Schuette's visit aimed to promote National Reading Month and encourage students to cultivate a love for reading.
