The majority of students in Gratiot County districts were white in the 2022-23 school year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of the 5,256 students attending Gratiot County district schools, 87% were white. Hispanic students were the second largest ethnic group among Gratiot County's districts (9.4%).

In the previous school year, white students were still the most common group in Gratiot County, representing 86.9% of the student body.

Alma Public Schools had the most diverse student body in the county, including African American, American Indian, Asian, Hawaiian, Hispanic, multiracial, and white.

In the 2022-23 school year, the total number of students enrolled in school districts in the county dropped 3.6% compared to the previous year.
