Flint residents invited to apply to serve on ARPA Community Advisory Committee

Flint residents who are interested in serving on Flint’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Community Advisory Committee are invited to submit an application for consideration. Applications are due by 5 p.m. EST on Thursday, January 5, 2023.

This committee is being formed to help evaluate ARPA community grant proposals and make award recommendations related to the $18 million available for community grants as part of the City of Flint’s overall allocation of American Rescue Plan Act funding. The committee’s recommendations will be reviewed by the Mayor and Flint City Council, who will make the final decision on funding awards.

The ARPA Community Advisory Committee is intended to broaden the City’s knowledge of community needs as funds are awarded to build a stronger, more equitable economy as Flint recovers from the pandemic.

Flint residents who wish to apply to serve on the committee can submit their application online at CityofFlint.com/ARPA. Prospective applicants who have questions may email ARPA@CityofFlint.com for more information.

ARPA Community Advisory Committee members must be Flint residents and the committee will be broadly representative of Flint’s geographic area and rich diversity. Applicants are asked about their knowledge of the City of Flint, areas of expertise, community involvement, and any other relevant experience.

The City encourages Flint residents who have experience in any of the four ARPA program areas to apply. The program areas are: economic development, neighborhood improvement, public health, and public safety/youth development.

Committee members will serve terms of up to six months or less and will be financially compensated for their time, thanks to funding from the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. The Community Foundation and Ruth Mott Foundation have also agreed to lend staff support for ARPA Advisory Committee meetings and the ARPA process alongside the City of Flint Administration and the Flint City Council ARPA Ad-Hoc Committee.

Applications can be submitted online at CityofFlint.com/ARPA.
