CONSTRUCTION CORNER

Greetings, Bay City! We have a few construction updates for you. Just keep reading!

SIDEWALKS

• Current $340,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) project is ahead of schedule and should be complete mid-month.

• Next CDBG sidewalk program, $270,000 effort, is scheduled to begin in September and finish in the spring of 2023.

• City-funded sidewalk program, $450,000 effort, will accept bids on August 24, 2022. This will focus on pedestrian safety and locations identified in our 2021 Sidewalk Inventory.

LEAD LINE REPLACEMENTS

• Bids will be opened on the $500,000 CDBG project on August 10, 2022. This round of funding will focus on four east side locations.

• City crews replacing lead/galvanized lines

• Drinking Water Revolving Fund (DWRF) is allowing a contractor to complete work as well

S. WENONA AVENUE

• Delays and operational conflicts, we are working to revise the construction schedule.

S. EUCLID AVENUE

• Between Salzburg Road and Hotchkiss Road, plus Kelton Street from S. Euclid to Northern Concrete Pipe

• Southbound S. Euclid is detoured. Only northbound traffic is allowed.

CONSUMERS ENERGY

• Modernizing Bay City’s natural gas system

• As a reminder, once the pipe replacement takes place – it could be up to four-weeks before yard restoration is completed.

OTHER PROJECTS

• E. John Street between S. Wenona Avenue and S. Walnut Street (September-October)

• Saginaw Street (turns into S. Water Street) between 10th Street and 14th Street (October-November)

• N. Grant Street between 3rd Street and 9th Street (May-June 2023)
