Genesee Appointment-Only Recycle Day Event on July 19 is Fully Booked

In a news release, the commission had said that to accommodate demand, the event was extended by an hour, and it was hoped that the appointment system would reduce wait time for residents.

Details for those with appointments

When: Tuesday, July 19, 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Carman-Ainsworth MIddle School, 1409 Maple Road, Flint

Required: You must have proof of registration, either printed on paper or digitally. People without proof or registraiton will be turned away.

The occasional Recycle Day events allow Genesee County residents to bring unwanted waste materials to this location during a designated timeslot. Recycle Day staff are available to assist attendees in navigating the site and unloading items from vehicles. Appliances and tires will not be collected at the Recycle Day event.

“It is encouraging to see so many residents who want to recycle their hard to dispose of items; every participant makes these events possible. All items that are collected at Recycle Day are properly disposed of, so they do not end up in the County’s landfills,” said Derek Bradshaw, Director of the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission. During the May collection event, approximately 1,250 residents attended, and 192,588 pounds of waste was collected.
