City of Saginaw reminds residents of extended deadline for ARPA Online Portal

A9

The City of Saginaw would like to remind residents that the deadline to submit ideas and formal proposals through the City’s online ARPA funding proposal portal has been extended through Monday, June 13, 2022. The City’s submission portal is available for residents, nonprofits, and businesses to submit a general idea on the use of ARPA funds, and as the official grant application for those who have a formal submission. To participate in the online portal, click here.

The City extended the submission deadline until June 13 to provide citizens and organizations with adequate time to properly submit their funding proposal or idea. All members of the community are encouraged to take part in the portal. All ideas and proposals submitted will be reviewed and considered by the ARPA Advisory Committee, City Council, and City Administration.

Once the submission period has ended, members of the Guidehouse staff will work with the ARPA Advisory Committee Members to analyze the results of the portal. Guidehouse will present these results at the June 20 City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. At this meeting, Guidehouse will present a preliminary analysis of the portal submissions, highlighting common themes and identifying priority investment opportunities.

A final recommendation from the ARPA Advisory Committee will be provided to City Council at a later date after each committee member has had additional time to study the analysis and formulate their own recommendation for a strategic funding plan. Guidehouse will then develop a final report, with approval from the Committee, which will include recommended funding priorities to be considered by City Council.

City Manager Tim Morales commented on the work of the committee, “the ARPA Committee is working as quickly as possible while ensuring consensus remains among the members at every step of the process. This will allow the ARPA Committee to deliver a final report that they can all stand behind, as they take great care with the ideas and proposals generated by the public.”
