Citizens Academy Graduates 21 New Participants

The City of Midland is pleased to announce that its 15th class Citizens Academy has graduated! Twenty-one residents attended an informal graduation ceremony in Council Chambers of Midland City Hall on Wednesday, April 27 to mark the culmination of the 10-week program. 

During the academy, participants attend weekly sessions that explore different functional areas of City government and learn about how their roles impact daily life for residents of Midland. Participants learn through a series of face-to-face sessions with the leaders of City departments, County government, and City Council, as well as behind-the-scenes tours of City and County government facilities including the Midland County Jail, Water Treatment Plant, Municipal Service Center, and Grace A. Dow Memorial Library. Since 2007, the program has graduated over 350 participants.

Applications for the 2023 Citizens Academy will open in early November 2022 with class dates from mid-January through mid-March 2023.
