City of Bay City recently issued the following announcement.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere you go
Take a look at the five and ten, it's glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes that glow
While Downtown Bay City is full of Christmas spirit every day of the week during the holiday season – there’s something magical about Sundays in the City! Today marks the second week of the well-loved Christmas experience that includes carriage rides, holiday movies, Santa Bucks and so much more! Downtown Bay City Events and Marketing Specialist Kellie Rupp said it’s a great way to experience the holidays close to home. “We want to encourage people in the community and visitors to shop local not only during the holidays, but year-round. Sundays in the City allows people to get their shopping done, while also having the opportunity to see a movie or ride in a carriage around town, free of charge.”
Today’s free movie at the State Theatre is The Polar Express. It begins at 1 p.m. Admission is free, however food or cash donations are accepted and appreciated. The donations will benefit the Safe Harbor Kitchen. Outside the State Theatre is where the free carriage rides begin. Shoot and Share, Panache Boutique, St. Laurent Brothers and the Bay City/Bay Antiques Center teamed up to offer the carriage rides from Mid-Michigan Carriage Company.
Don’t forget to enter the Festival of Wreaths and Sleigh of Gifts (on display at Herter Music Center)! To enter the Festival of Wreaths text “wreath21” to 57838, and to enter the Sleigh of Gifts text ‘sleigh21’ to 57838. You’ll find the wreaths on display at participating businesses, while the sleigh is full of items donated by businesses.
