Bay City School District issued the following announcement on Nov 22.
The BCPS family wishes to congratulate Bay City Western High School's Mike Thayer on earning the Michigan High School Athletic Association Allen W. Bush Award.
This is Thayer's 25th year as athletic director, and he also serves as an assistant principal at Bay City Western.
“Mike has been one of the true leaders of the Saginaw Valley League for a long time, and he’s really become the point guard of that league over the last five years,” MHSAA Executive Director Mark Uyl said in a written release. “If ever someone should be defined for quiet, steady leadership, it’s Mike Thayer."
