Dear Bay City Public Schools Community,
During the August 9th school board meeting, board members voted to approve a partial school year calendar. As negotiations with the Bay City Education Association are ongoing, it is important to note that this calendar is subject to change. We do feel confident that families can plan their August and September schedules around this new calendar.
The calendar calls for a return to school on Tuesday, August 24. Classes will not be held on August 27, August 30, September 3, and September 6.
In addition to the partial calendar, our district Return to School plan was also discussed at the board meeting. As a reminder, Bay City Public Schools is not requiring masks for students, staff, or guests while on school premises. Mask wearing is highly recommended, at the discretion of families and individuals, and we respect your individual choice.
We continue to receive inquiries regarding vaccinations. Currently, COVID-19 vaccinations are not on the school-required immunization list. As a district, we also view this as a personal choice.
The attached graphic provides a helpful summary of our Return to School plan. Please take note that masks will be mandated on busses, as it is required at the federal level. We continue to monitor federal, state, and local health guidelines, and will provide updates regarding COVID-19 protocols if any changes become necessary due to mandates.
We are looking forward to welcoming students back to Bay City Public Schools on August 24, and we appreciate your patience as we work through negotiations and our Return to School plan. Please be on the lookout for messaging coming soon from your respective schools with more information as we begin the school year.
