City of Holland issued the following announcement.
Early Sunday morning November 22 at 12:10am, officers were informed by Ottawa County Central Dispatch that several stolen vehicles from the Kent County area were heading
into the Holland area. Grand Rapids Police and the Kent County Sheriff's Department were investigating and passing on information to our officers. Holland Police officers
observed several vehicles driving recklessly on the south side of Holland, coming onto Washington Avenue from US-31. Officers attempted to stop one vehicle, and other officers
were attempting to get into position to intercept these vehicles.
One of the stolen vehicles pulled off the road, and two subjects fled on foot. Both subjects were in possession of handguns when they ran, with one subject throwing a handgun
just prior to capture, and the other subject still in possession of a handgun when taken into custody. The stolen vehicle and one suspect were turned over to the Grand Rapids
Police Department, and the other subject was lodged at the Ottawa County Jail on charges of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Receiving and Concealing Stolen Property, and
Resist and Obstruct an Officer.
A short time later, Holland officers were dispatched to a Shots Fired call at 3:21am in the 500 block of West 24th Street. After initial contact at the residence that was struck by
bullets, officers set up a perimeter and used a Holland Police K9 for a track. Through their investigation, officers found three rounds had been fired into a house, with one bullet
going through a window into a bedroom. The suspect was believed to have fled on foot, however limited information is available, and no suspects have been taken into custody at
this time.
These incidents do not appear to be related. Both incidents remain under investigation and have been turned over to the Holland Police Detectives to investigate further.
