Rep. Graham Filler (R-DeWitt), in conjunction with a bipartisan coalition of Michigan representatives, has approved a plan to move forward with COVID-19 relief for those most affected by the pandemic, including nursing home populations and those who have become unemployed as a result of coronavirus restrictions.
This bipartisan effort represents what many are calling a smarter way to move forward in the wake of the Michigan Supreme Court's ruling that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer acted unconstitutionally in terms of the restrictions and measures she put in place in response to the pandemic.
Filler said, “Keeping people healthy remains my priority. It’s also vital to make sure the unemployment checks out-of-work Michiganders are relying on to feed their families don’t come to a sudden, screeching halt," according to Michigan House Republicans.

The bill will now head to the governor's desk for approval, having been passed with a bipartisan vote. It is expected to be signed into law.
